GFC 1ST Team 1 v First Tower Utd 0
A Disciplined and Patient performance by GFC 1ST Team
GFC 1ST team:- Garry Lloyd - David Syvret - Calvin Ecobichan-Gray - Phil Wood - Craig Northedge - Joel Speight - Jorge Marques (1 goal) - Jody MacCarthy - Alex Jeffries - Peter Warrell - Russell le Feuvre
Substitutes played: Michael Texeira - Ryan Durand - Mick McParland
A disciplined and patient performance resulted in our first 3 points of the season. Loosing both Craig and Alex early on did little to alter our control on the game. Our defence was solid with Garry having very little to do. Phil Wood having a particularly strong performance, his dominance in the air nullified many Tower attacks.
My personal Man of the Match Calvin Ecobichon-Gray, had a fine game, his attacking caused the Tower defence many problems and his disciplined defending meant nothing passed him. Our only problem was getting the ball into the back of the net. A mixture of poor finishing, a fine performance from the Tower keeper and the Le Boulivot woodwork kept the score 0-0 for too long. The break game with 15mins to go, a goal mouth scramble resulting in Jorge Marques taking control and blasting the ball into the back of the net. 1-0. GFC continued to control the game to the end, with only one slightly scary Tower attack just before the final whistle.
Well done to all, a special thanks to Martyn Noel for again stepping in to manage the team, assisted by Ken Addison.
Thanks also to Richard Noel for providing match report & pictures.
